Review of Caribbean Cowboy in Lake Placid, NY
Caribbean Cowboy:
Cuisine:
When on vacation it pays to not judge a book by its cover, in this case a restaurants location and exterior - both gave no indication of the epicurean delights that awaited inside the Caribbean Cowboy. Is this the best restaurant in terms of food in LP? Caribbean Cowboy belongs in the discussion. The menu at Caribbean Cowboy is diverse and the chef is talented and creative; each night there are about 10 specials on the menu. If you appreciate good food with a twist, a visit to Caribbean Cowboy is a must while in the High Peaks.
The Food:
Oooh-la-la is the food good. Our favorite restaurant in the area.
Chirashi Sushi - was beautiful to look at and divine to eat - assorted sushi and sashimi with amazing ginger, seaweed and a kiss of baby Roe. This was the first thing we ordered and it raised our expectations for the evening. Favorite dish in Placid.
Jerk Chicken - is amazing - jerk seasoned free range chicken that is marinated, roasted, braised and falls off the bone. Mango Mojo chutney is cold and contrasts wonderfully with the warmth and jerk of the chicken. Comes with rice and beans and a slice of Ginger Cornbread.
Cajun Chix Quesadilla has a nice heat to it and big pieces of chicken - cheddar cheese, tomatoes, green onions, cilanto and japs with Mango Mojo chutney, salsa, guac and sour cream.
Key Lime Pie is light, sweet and zesty combo of marang, key lime, raspberry and sugar graham cracker crust.
